Major Austin Cassar Torregiani's EII Officers' Decoration (Territorials), II Clasp Bars, 1954 at the Malta at War Museum, Couvre Porte, Birgu. Besides being a senior commander in the King's Own Malta Regiment during the war and the immediate post-war years Major Cassar Torregiani was also a keen sportsmen. In 1936, he represented the nation at the Summer Olympic Games held in Berlin where he competed with the likes of the US sprinter Jessie Owens which made him Malta's first Olympian.
