Mr Andrew and Mrs Kate Leo from the UK have kindly presented to Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna - the Malta Heritage Trust a large collection of wartime photographs, documents and postcards belonging to Mr Leo's great uncle 901427 Aircraftman Maurice Leo who served in Malta during the siege of 1940-43. During this time AC Maurice was mostly stationed at Ta' Kali. The collection includes 216 photographs of aircraft, vehicles, bombed out buildings, war views, Malta scenic views and military personnel; 2 Xmas Cards; 10 personal documents and notes; 2 RAF uniform shoulder patches; 5 Malta postcards and 1 Allied propaganda flier. A short presentation was held at the Saluting Battery in Valletta wherein Mr and Mrs Leo presented AC Leo's handed the collection to Mr Mario Farrugia, Founding Chairman of FWA.
FWA has a dedicated archive to those who have served in the two world wars in Malta where all forms of donated personal documentary material is preserved. Following sorting and preservation this collection will be deposited in this archive for posterity.
